Every month, I get so many amazing questions over on Instagram — about the projects I’m working on, how I tackle them, what I’m using around the house, and even what I’m wearing. So I thought it would be fun (and helpful!) to start rounding them up right here on the blog so everything lives in one easy place.
Let’s jump into your February questions!
Canopy Bed
Q: Planning measurements for full, queen, or king — what changes?
The easiest way to size this bed is to build it 1″ wider and 1″ longer than your mattress. That gives you a snug fit without fighting it during install.
Here’s the quick breakdown:
- Full (54″ x 75″ mattress)
Interior frame: 55″ x 76″ - Queen (60″ x 80″ mattress)
Interior frame: 61″ x 81″ - King (76″ x 80″ mattress)
Interior Frame 77″ x 81″
Then adjust your slats, support frame, and any trundle or drawer measurements to match. For king especially, I recommend adding extra center support since the mattress is much heavier. For a full tutorial head to my canopy bed blog.
Q: Where do you get select pine 2x2s?
I grab mine from Home Depot!
Q: How much weight can the trundle hold?
The 8 caster wheels I used are rated to hold up to 720 pounds total, which makes it very sturdy for guests or kids.
Q: What mattress did you use for the trundle?
I ordered mine from Amazon — it’s a low-profile trundle mattress that fits perfectly underneath without scraping.
Q: How does the trundle fit so seamlessly under the bed?
It’s all about the divider placement in the support frame. I positioned the 73″ divider about 40″ in from one side, which creates the perfect cavity for the trundle to slide in.
The back of the trundle is slightly notched so it tucks cleanly around the frame — that’s what makes it look built-in instead of “added on.”
Everything is shown step-by-step in the tutorial with photos.
Q: Where is the drawer and trundle hardware from?
Amazon! I’ve used this hardware all throughout our house and love it.
Disney
Q: What did you ride at Disney?
Honestly? EVERYTHING that was open.
We gamified it with Lightning Lanes. My biggest tip: watch YouTube updates about Lightning Lane before you go — it changes often.
Make a plan for your “must-do” rides, knock those out first, and pack an extra phone charger for inside the park.
Q: What’s the best age to take kids to Disney?
Best ages to take kids to Disney ANY. It gets more fun every time we take them but it’s total magic when they’re little and see all their favorite characters
Nightstand
Q: Will the cement forms be strong enough?
Time will tell! But they are reinforced underneath, so structurally they’re supported. I’ll definitely share long-term updates as they hold up.
Q: What are the dimensions of the nightstand and stool?
- Nightstand: 27” tall, 18” wide
- Stool: 17” tall, 13” wide
Q: How many sheet sets have you gone through for projects?
Four for DIY projects. Two for actual beds.
Sheets are honestly one of my favorite affordable materials to use for upholstery and fabric projects — thin 100% cotton works best.
Outfits
Q: Where is your white puffy vest from?
Lululemon! It’s perfect for when it’s chilly outside but you’re in denial so you throw on a sleeveless vest & call it good.
Q: Alo pants link?
I love these pants. They’re so comfortable and lightweight, plus you can dress them up or down.
Keep The Questions Coming
I hope this was helpful! Thank you so much for always sending such thoughtful questions — I love seeing what you’re curious about! Drop your questions on Instagram, and I’ll be back next month with another round-up.
