Master Bedroom Design & DIY Round-Up

Round-up time! One of the rooms I get asked about most frequently is our master bedroom.

From our bedding to our curtains to our furniture, it seems like it’s one of the rooms you all want to know about the most!

So today, I’m taking a minute to round up all of the DIYs and products from this room in one place so you can easily see all you need to do in order to recreate the look!

Let’s get started, shall we?

MASTER BEDROOM DESIGN & DIY ROUND-UP

Where to even begin? I have to start by saying this room is probably one of my favorites. And I think a big part of that is because of how much time and effort we’ve spend making this space over.

We took it one thing at a time, moved slowly, kept things incredibly budget friendly, and slowly but surely it came together!

THE FURNITURE

Let’s start with the bones — the furniture!

Every piece of furniture in our bedroom aside from the bed was free! Some of it was hand-me-down furniture from my in-laws.

Some of it was from an estate sale.

Our bed is from Hayneedle, and it didn’t break the bank either, especially considering everything else was free. This isn’t the exact one, but it’s a close match.

The rest of our furniture didn’t always look like it did now. We milk painted it all!

Check out my blog post to learn everything you need to know about milk painting and why I love it so much!

My rug was from Wayfair, and it was a great price too. I love the vintage details, and the Ivory/Silver coloring is perfection!

The mirrors were thrifted — I searched around for a long time to find them! But once I did, it was so worth it.

THE BEDDING

I get asked about this Chevron bedding all the time! It’s from Anthropologie, and we’ve had it for about 3-4 years now. It has held up beautifully!

It looks like there are a few left, but it’s on sale and going out of stock soon. So, if you love it, hurry on over there and grab it!

I also have these matching chevron shams.

For the other pillows, I love mixing and matching! So these are some I’ve collected over the years. But this one in front is from Magnolia!

CURTAINS

One of the most asked about DIYs I’ve ever done are my drop cloth curtains in our master!

And I have to say, it was one of the easiest, too!

SHIPLAP

This shiplap wall was another simple DIY! Head here for all the details and the step by step process.

FLORAL LADDER

And this ladder! It always seems to get some attention. I love switching up the florals for each season. It’s super simple, and my tutorial lives in my Instagram highlights!

And you can get the ladder here.

As for those cute little frames hanging off the ladder… that was another simple DIY!

Told you the room was full of them!

I dried some flowers with my girls and framed them up.

THAT’S A WRAP

Okay, I think that covers most of it… there is more decor of course, but again, a lot of it has been collected over the years and/or is thrifted!

My advice? A lot of little steps in the right direction leads you to the perfect space for you!

This room is filled with inexpensive DIYs that we’ve done over a couple of years. And all that hard work has added up to the perfect master retreat!

Let me know if you decide to recreate any of it in the comments!
