Discover How We Updated Our Media Room On A Budget With Wayfair

This blog post is sponsored by Wayfair but contains my truthful views and opinions about all items!

If you’ve been following along on Instagram for a little while, you know we’re in the middle of a total basement makeover.

We began by updating every square inch of the basement kitchenette, moved on to the floors which I painted and stenciled, and now we’re just about to wrap up the media room!

This media room is open to the rest of the basement but still defined, so my goal was to style it in a way that coordinates with the rest of the open space.

But I also wanted to make sure it was a cozy, inviting space.

After all, this will be the room we go to for years for sports games, movie nights, and relaxing as a family, so I needed to make sure this space is somewhere we will want to be!

No pressure, little media room!

Of course I turned to Wayfair for pretty, affordable styles to outfit my space because I’m always able to find what I need there and in my budget. Plus, everything always arrives quickly and without issues!

So I got to shopping, and here are the items I found that completely helped round out my space…

OTTOMAN

The very first thing on my list that I needed was a new ottoman. We had an old, oversized coffee table in the space that used to be in our playroom.

Needless to say, it had been well loved! Plus, it was wood and metal and didn’t play into the cozy vibes I had in mind for the room.

I wanted an ottoman with a tufted top and metal legs, and that’s just what I found with the Guillaume 28″ Tufted Square Standard Ottoman from Wayfair.

This one was perfect for the style of the space, and I loved the price even more. Now, we have somewhere to rest our feet and no more sharp corners and edges our kids can run into.

TRAYS

Since the ottoman is upholstered, I needed some trays to set on top to hold things like drinks and snacks.

I also needed a natural wood element to break up all the fabric!

I found this Nemec 2 Piece Ottoman Tray Set from Wayfair and fell in love right away.

The farmhouse style natural wood with the metal handles played perfectly into the theme in the room, so I scooped these up!

I plan on putting the large tray on my ottoman and the smaller tray on my console table to hold remotes. Perfect!

BASKETS

To bring in more natural elements, I needed some seagrass baskets! But I wanted them to have some style to them.

I found this 3 Piece Seagrass Basket Set that came in beige and black, and I knew those would be perfect for the room.

I’m using the largest one to hold a faux tree, the medium sized basket to hold extra blankets, and the small basket to hold a plant I had in the room.

They help tie the whole space together nicely!

THROW

Now for some cozy items…

Because this room has to be cozy if it’s going to be our movie room space!

I wanted a stylish throw, but I didn’t want to spend a fortune. So I browsed blankets at Wayfair and found this beautiful Oneil Tartan Blanket with a windowpane pattern.

Not only do I think it looks beautiful, but it’s so warm and cozy and gives off the vibes of the really expensive wool throws you see out there. But I got this one for just $42!

PILLOWS

And you can’t forget pillows!

I had pillows from around the house that I was planning to reuse for our media room couch, but I needed some fun decorative throw pillows to help tie it all together.

I found this cute Union City Rectangular Pillow Cover & Insert from Wayfair

And a couple of Cassius Abstract 18″ Throw Pillow Covers to tie the space in with the accent wall I just painted…

And just with those few small updates, I was able to take my unorganized, pieced together media room space and create a stylish space we can feel good about relaxing or entertaining in!
