Let’s face it, winter by far feels like the longest season. That never-ending dreary gray, the cold temperatures, and the short days. I do love snow around Christmas, but once the holidays are over, I for one am ready to just hop right into spring.
Too bad we can’t choose for that to happen, right?
But one thing we can choose is how we decorate our home to help bring out that springy cheerfulness a little earlier than usual (who said you had to play by the rules?).
And I’m not saying you have to just jump in headfirst and deck your halls with Easter eggs and all the pastels imaginable, but what if you just start adding a few spring touches here and there to help bring you joy?
I have felt the nudge to begin adding a little life back into my home for spring this year already, and I’m doing that in 3 simple ways that I’ll share with you here so you can do the same!

3 SIMPLE WAYS TO START ADDING SPRING TO YOUR HOME (EVEN IF THE WEATHER WON’T COOPERATE)
SIMPLE WAY #1: LIVE PLANTS

This might come as a shock to you, but I love plants! And the more real plants I add to my home, the more joy I’m able to cultivate.
Live plants truly bring life into our homes. When we’re able to replace some of the fake with some real, we’re able to bring a piece of what we love so much about spring (blooming plants and reawakening life) into our lives a little earlier than usual.
So head out and grab a few of your favorites. Snake and ZZ plants are low maintenance and great air purifiers, and you can never go wrong with succulents.
SIMPLE WAY #2: FAUX FLORALS
As much as I love real plants, you just can’t really buy pretty flowers this time of year. And those colorful blooms really make me think spring!
So what’s the harm in mixing a little faux in with the real, am I right?
I have slowly been replacing my winter pine and greenery with arrangements of muted pink and white florals, and it has been brightening up my mood alongside my home.
You don’t have to go all or nothing, just start replacing a little winter decor at a time, and you’ll be amazed at the difference it will make!
SIMPLE WAY #3: ADD SOME COLOR

For Christmas, I always add a little color. Some muted reds and some greens. But once the holidays are over, my winter decor becomes very simple.
I leave out my pine for a while, but that’s about the only pop of color that can be seen in my home for all of January into February (even though I’d like to argue that greenery is a neutral in my book, but let’s not get into that right now).
So after about six weeks of whites, woods, and greenery, I’m ready for a little cheerful color!
I’ve been slowly adding some color to my home (mainly dusty rose pinks and muted greens), and I’ve been loving the outcome. These colors are springy enough to get me in the right mindset without being over the top bright and cheerful (since it is still winter after all).
But these vintage, muted tones were just what my home was craving and the could do wonders for your home as well! In fact, I put together a few of my favorite muted, vintage color schemes for spring this year if you’re craving an early start to the season for your home too!
A little color goes a long way. Just start adding some color here and there, and you’ll see immediate effects.
THE TAKEAWAY
You don’t have to wait until a certain date to start bringing spring cheer into your home, and you don’t have to go all out for spring as soon as you start decorating either.
Take it slowly, be intentional, and begin updating your home for the next season as you see fit. Take it one category at a time and slowly start to replace some of your faux plants with real ones, or add a few arrangements of colorful blooms to your tables.
Or maybe just toss a couple of fun, colorful pillows on your sofa to brighten it up just a bit.
You do whatever feels right for you and your home, but I say it’s never a bad time to add a little joy and cheer back into your home in preparation for spring!
