Let’s talk decor!
One thing I’ve been doing a little too much of during this time stuck at home is online shopping.
There’s something about browsing around for inspiration, even if you aren’t planning on buying anything. I love seeing what’s in season and trending to see if it might inspire new designs in my own home!
Annnnd if the occasional item speaks to me, it just might end up in my shopping cart.
But one room I don’t usually shop for much is my kitchen! I’m notorious for forgetting to style the counters and island, almost intentionally. I don’t like a lot of clutter in the kitchen!
But when you find the perfect pieces, they can actually make a big difference and provide both beauty and function!
So let’s chat about some of my favorite kitchen decor and where you can find it too!

FARMHOUSE KITCHEN DECOR TO STYLE YOUR HOME ON A BUDGET
A GOOD RUG
Let’s start with the floor because I just got the best kitchen rug from Boutique Rugs. This may or may not have been one of those ‘add to cart’ moments I was talking about!
This 2’x3′ Hovland Area Rug is the perfect rustic jute rug for a farmhouse style home, but it could really go with a variety of decor styles.
Plus, it has tassels!
And the best part? You can get it 55% off with the code LAUREN55.
CANISTERS
Good canisters can create both beauty and function on your counters! And there are so many to choose from!
But some of my all time favorite canisters are glass canisters from Crate & Barrel.
Over the years, my style has changed a few times, but I have never felt the urge to switch these out!
I love how simple and sleek they are, and I love storing my flour and sugar out for easy access.
You just can’t beat glass canisters!
But I would be lying if I told you I didn’t also love a good designed canister too, and these pretty gray and white designed canisters from Target have had my eye for quite a while now!
I just might need to snag a set on my next order…
BREAD BOX
Do you have a bread box yet? I was late to the bread box game, but now we use ours all the time!
Partially because it’s not just a decorative bread box like a lot of the ones you see!
You see… I’m all about function, like I said before! If I’m going to have something take up valuable counter space, it has to be pretty and it has to serve a purpose.
We bake a lot of bread ourselves in our home, so I wanted a bread box that we could truly use.
And this board with the cover is simply perfect!
UTENSILS & UTENSIL HOLDER
Now let’s talk utensils! There’s nothing more functional than setting out your most used utensils, and we use our wooden spoons all the time.
I have them out on the counter in a plain white crock!
BREAD BOARDS
Okay so there’s one main thing in my kitchen that isn’t so much for use (but could be)… bread boards!
I love them. I don’t know why… It’s probably the natural wood tones and variety of shapes and sizes, but I’ve been collecting these for years!
Here’s a link to one on Amazon that can get you started, but make sure you look around. You can usually find a variety of fun ones in a variety of different home stores!
A CUTE TRAY
And how about a little tray to hold the items near your stove?
There are a few things I like to keep out like wooden spoons, olive oil, and sea salt. But I don’t love to just have them out on the counter, I like them to be contained.
This cute tray is perfect to hold the items I use most while making them look designed at the same time!
And I mentioned leaving salt out… I don’t just mean the shakers! I love this cute salt holder from Target!
A LITTLE GREENERY
It wouldn’t be a kitchen of mine without a little greenery, so I found lots of cute little succulents to set around!
TURKISH TOWELS

I’m obsessing over Olive & Linen’s Turkish hand and kitchen towels! They’re super absorbent and come in all kinds of colors and styles!
Plus, you can use my code FARMHOUSEISH30 to save 30% on your order!
A PEDESTAL STAND
I love a little height on my kitchen island, and I also have a few things I need to keep out for convenience purposes like dish soap, hand soap, and dish brushes.
A pedestal stand gives me the perfect designed height to contain all those little things!
I recently picked this one up at Target, and I’m in love with the marble and wood combo!
The bottom line?
You can find cute, functional decor on a budget, but that’s the key! When it comes to your kitchen, make sure what you add provides function and service to your kitchen!
That way you create a beautiful space that can easily give back to you and your family.
