Hello, and welcome to the Summer Outdoor Spaces Blog Hop hosted by AnnMarie & Anne from Simply2Moms! If you’re visiting from Mary at The Hand Crafted Haven, or if you just happened to stop by, I’m so glad you’re here.
I just love being outside, and so do my kids. So typically, you can find us out in the backyard for hours on any given day.
Because of that, I always make sure to spend a little extra time in the spring and summer making our porch extra inviting!
I want it to be the perfect, welcoming outdoor haven. And this year, I had a plan for the plants to do a lot of the talking!
So I began with what I had — pillows and throws, plants, and then I came up with a couple of DIY projects to pull it all together.
I solidified my color scheme of creamy whites and flax full of texture along with dusty rose/warmed up blush tones.
Alright enough talking, let’s jump into the details!

SUMMER PORCH DECOR – HOW I STYLED MY PORCH FOR SUMMER ON A BUDGET
I already had furniture on the porch and a footprint that I liked, so it was really all about the styling!
FLOWERS
I started with the old tea cart I painted last spring and used as a mini herb garden. I stacked some pots here for height, added a few potted plants including lavender and some fresh herbs, and made it look a little whimsical with pots laid over on their sides.
You can see a closeup here and read how I painted those pots to give them a vintage, distressed vibe.
DIY WALL PLANTERS
But I didn’t just stop there with the plants! I needed a few new ways to display them. And let’s be honest… I tend to have the best luck with succulents!

So I created this succulent wall planter and a mini herb wall planter as well! They were pretty easy projects, and I just love how they turned out!

DIY DOORMAT
And speaking of plants…
I had been wanting to create a custom doormat for a while that read, “There are like a lot of plants in here.” Because let’s be honest, it’s true!
So I found this perfectly simple customizable doormat kit on Etsy and fell in love with how easy it was to customize my own stencil and create a doormat on my own!

TIME FOR PILLOWS!
I had found some pillow covers earlier that would work for all seasons out here! And I opted for covers because that’s always the cheaper way to go (plus they’re easier to store). I found 4 light linen pillow covers on Amazon for a great price, so I was sold!
I also found a long, embellished pillow that I loved! Perfect texture add.
I wanted to go for more pillows than usual for all the cozy! The trick to making sure they look nice and expensive is the pillow insert. You insert can make or break how your pillow covers look.
These are my very favorites, but you can opt for any you like! Just make sure they’re full and manipulatable – you’ll want to be able to do the chop to create that “v” shape!
GRAB SOME COZY THROWS
I scattered my pillows around the couches and chairs, then grabbed some throws.
I wanted to use these throws as my pop of color, so I opted for this 2-pack. I can’t say enough about them! So cost-effective for something so cute!
Plus I just love the colors!
I draped a throw over the back of the couch and stuffed one in the swing. I made sure not to fold them or lay them just so, so that you could really get a cozy feel. When spaces look a little ‘used’ they certainly feel more cozy!
LET’S TALK RUGS
I opted for a jute rug with tassels. And I love it! It’s so cozy, thick, and perfect all year round!
This is the rug I chose. I think it’s just perfect for the space! A good rug can really brighten up a space and make it feel new!
I SAW THE SIGN
I found the cutest little sign at Hobby Lobby and couldn’t pass it up!
It reads…
“Come in the evening and come in the morning. Come when expected or come without warning. A thousand welcomes you’ll find here before you, and the more often you come the more we’ll adore you.”
You can’t tell me that’s not perfect for a porch of any kind! We hung it on the exterior wall and called it a day.
TO WRAP IT UP

To totally tie it all together, I added some of these adorable string lights for a little summer magic, and they were the perfect finishing touch!
This refresh was just a fun and simple way to carry out the summer vibes I had indoors outdoors as well. The textured neutrals pull in so much love and character, and the rose color adds just the perfect touch of personality!
And the best part? It didn’t break the bank!
