I get asked a lot about my favorite DIY items and brands. And trust me when I say I’ve tried them all!
I gravitate towards products that work well, make the project look good, and get the job done without any unexpected problems.
I’ve used a lot of different tools, brushes, rollers, paint, clamps, sprayers — you name it — and these are the top 10 items that I love to have on hand for any project that might arise!

MY DIY FAVORITE THINGS I ALWAYS HAVE ON HAND
PAINT BRUSHES
I absolutely love my Wooster Silver Tip paintbrushes. This is not sponsored — I just truly love them! They’re soft, angled, and thin which allows me to be precise and leave as little brush strokes as humanly possible!
PAINT SPRAYER
It’s way cheaper than other brands out there and works great.
This is what I used for my laundry room and kitchenette cabinets.
CHALK PAINT
While we’re on the topic of paint… I always have several cans of Linen White Rustoleum Chalk Paint on hand in my garage. It’s a great white — not too bright, but still a true white.
I use this for floors, furniture, quick DIY projects… you name it!
SEALANT
My favorite top coat for durability is Rustoleum’s Ultra Cover Clear Gloss sealant. It holds up to anything! I even put this on my porch outside, and it works great.
For other projects that need a top coat but don’t get walked on, I love this topcoat with a matte finish!
STENCILS
Stenciling is such an inexpensive way to update a floor, wall, piece of furniture, and more! You already know how much I love stenciling anything I can.
But did you also know I have a basket full of stencils so I can grab one and go at any given time? Because I do, and it’s the best!
CLAMPS
Clamps are always necessary! And these are my very favorite ones. They work great, and I use them for just about all my woodworking projects!
FOAM ROLLERS
Foam rollers are great for smoothing out brush strokes and working with paint such as cabinet paint with enamel.
I always like to have a set of these mini rollers on hand for quick projects around the house where a brush just won’t do!
WOOD GLUE
Wood glue = the secret to any successful project. Hands down. I use it constantly and trust it completely. Okay, that’s a little much, but you get what I mean here. This stuff is gold.
POWER DRILL
A power drill is helpful for not only larger DIY projects, but also for simply hanging things like art or shelves, or changing out cabinet hardware.
I pull out my drill almost every day, and I love how easy my HART Drill is to use. I simply grab a battery and my drill bits and bring it with me!
MITER SAW
I use my miter saw for almost every woodworking project I do! It makes cuts so simple and helps me get the job done in half the time.
JIGSAW
And if you follow me on Instagram, you probably already know how much I love my jigsaw! It gives me the flexibility to take on woodworking projects of all kinds without having to worry about the tough cuts.
I pull this baby out all the time!
BRAD NAILER
I love my brad nailer! I have such a simple model that doubles as a staple gun, but you’d be shocked at how much I use this thing!
I pull it out for plywood wall projects, adding caning to cabinet doors, building shelves and countertops, board and batten… it’s fantastic!
If you have these items on hand, you’d be amazed at the number of projects you can whip out in no time!
